Dry Eye Treatment in Vernon
What is IPL? What is Optiglow? Real Results, Forma Radio Frequency in Vernon
Optiglow and your dry eye
A healthy tear film is essential for lubricating, nourishing, and protecting the eye surface. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Radiofrequency (RF) are non-invasive, treatments for Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) and dry eye that improve tear film quality by reducing inflammation, melting hardened oils in the glands, and promoting better oil expression. IPL reduces inflammation and abnormal blood vessels, while RF uses heat to liquefy blocked glands, providing long-lasting, improved eye comfort.

Real Dry Eye Solutions
Forma-I radiofrequency is highly effective for dry eye, with studies showing 91–94% of patients with Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) responding to treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What does Optiglow treat?
Optiglow addresses the underlying causes of dry eye — including Meibomian gland dysfunction, inflammation, and poor tear quality — rather than just masking symptoms the way artificial tears or warm compresses do. Many patients also notice a cosmetic improvement in the skin around the eyes as an added benefit. -
Is Optiglow approved for use around the eyes?
Yes. The Forma-I and Lumecca-I applicators used in Optiglow treatments are Health Canada–licensed specifically for use in the delicate periorbital (around-the-eye) area, with small, precision applicators designed for this purpose. -
Is Optiglow treatment painful?
Not typically, and the two treatments feel quite different from each other. Forma-I (radiofrequency) feels like a warm, gentle massage around the eye area — most patients find it relaxing rather than uncomfortable. Lumecca-I (intense pulsed light) delivers a quick pulse of light that most patients describe as a mild tingling or a brief "snap," similar to a light elastic band flick. Most people tolerate both treatments well without any need for numbing cream or anesthetic. -
Is there any downtime after treatment?
No — this is one of the advantages of Optiglow. You can return to your normal daily activities immediately after your appointment. Some patients notice mild, temporary redness around the treated area, which typically settles within a few hours. -
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on your individual symptoms and will be discussed with you during your consultation. Many patients begin with a series of initial sessions spaced a few weeks apart, followed by periodic maintenance visits to sustain results. Your provider will recommend a treatment plan tailored to you. -
Will I see results right away?
Many patients notice improvement in comfort after their very first session, though full results typically build over the course of a treatment series as gland function and tear quality improve. -
Do I need to wear sunscreen after treatment?
Yes — protecting the treated skin from sun exposure afterward is an important part of getting the best results and avoiding irritation. We recommend a daily broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 30 on the treated area. We now carry sunscreen in-store, including sample sizes if you'd like to try one before committing to a full size — just ask our team for a recommendation suited to the delicate eye area.
